Direct Recovery

Motorway vehicle recovery

Motorway recoveries need operators who know hard-shoulder rules, live lanes, and safe loading. Use Direct Recovery to find nearby independent agents, then call the one you want — no membership required.

When you need motorway recovery

Punctures, overheating, fuel run-outs and accidents on motorways usually mean you cannot safely drive to a garage. Tell the agent which motorway, junction or marker post you are nearest, and whether you are on the hard shoulder, in an emergency refuge area, or still in a live lane with National Highways / police already involved.

What to expect on the call

Agree the destination (home, garage, or dealer), the vehicle type, and the price before they set off. Motorway jobs often cost more than a local driveway recovery because of distance, waiting time, and hard-shoulder working. Typical local driveway jobs often land around £90–£120; motorway and longer A-to-B moves are usually higher — confirm when you call.

Stay safe while you wait

If you can, get behind the barrier. Switch on hazards, keep passengers away from live traffic, and follow any instructions from National Highways or the police. The agent you call will confirm ETA and approach once they are en route.

Questions

Can any recovery agent work on a motorway?

Many independent operators do motorway work, but not all. Say you are on a motorway when you call so they can confirm they will take the job.

Do I need AA or RAC cover?

No. Direct Recovery is a directory of independent agents. You arrange and pay for the job directly with the operator you call.
