Jump start and roadside battery help
A flat battery is one of the most common roadside problems. Many Direct Recovery agents can attend for a jump start; if the car will not hold charge or there is another fault, they can recover it instead.
Jump start vs recovery
If the battery is simply drained (lights left on, short trip in cold weather), a jump start may get you moving. If the alternator has failed, the car repeatedly dies, or you smell electrics burning, recovery to a garage is usually safer — the agent will advise when they see the vehicle.
What to say on the call
Give a clear postcode or landmark, say it is a jump start, and mention if the car is in a multi-storey, on a driveway, or on a live road. Ask for an ETA and the call-out price before they set off.
Typical costs
Local attendances are often in a similar band to other short roadside jobs, but confirm the figure on the phone. If a jump start fails and you need a tow, agree the extra cost before loading.

Is this the same as breakdown membership?
No. You pay the attending agent for the job. There is no annual Direct Recovery membership.
